Sanji Vinsmoke and Roronoa Zoro are the two Straw Hats who are considered the strongest crew under Luffy. The two of them are also no less popular than Luffy. In a pirate crew, each crew has its own duties and roles. And this also happened in the Straw Hats. Based on the Vivre Card data, we finally know the duties and roles of Zoro and Sanji.
For Sanji himself, he acts as a cook or chef. However, on the other hand, sometimes he also acts as a military advisor to the Straw Hats. Since the events in Alabasta, Sanji has often been shown to be the figure who saves the crew, especially when Luffy is busy or not around. An example in fact is the figure of Mr. Prince who was introduced to Vivi.
Sanji also often has plans for an assault mission or for a specific mission, besides he also has plans for the entire crew. He is a figure full of strategy, military advisor or tactician. Obviously military advisers can decide the best way to go in a confusing and complex situation.
However, it should be noted that the position of military advisor does not mean changing the role of captain on the team. Because the decision will still be made by the captain, namely Luffy. Sanji probably has the ability to strengthen and encourage the rest of the crew, much better than Zoro. Sanji is also an expressive and kind person. And everything happened on the initiative, there was no previous idea of Sanji being appointed as the "leader" in Luffy's absence.
As for Zoro, the Vivre Card officially notes that he is a swordsman or swordsman in the Straw Hats, and he also often acts as the main vice-captain for the Straw Hats, when Luffy is unavailable. Zoro often takes the initiative and actively orders his group to take certain actions.

Zoro asked them to hold back, until Usopp admitted his mistake. This was solely done by Zoro to keep Luffy from making decisions carelessly. And in the end they all agreed with this. Zoro's influence and authority deserved him to become a vice-captain in the Straw Hat crew.
Although Sanji is only mentioned as a cook and military advisor, Sanji has also filled the position of vice-captain when Luffy and Zoro were unavailable. Sanji is shown to be able to calm down and explain every situation they face calmly and clearly, without adding to panic. This is of course needed to make other crews have similar thoughts.
Sanji's strength has always been under the shadow of Zoro and Luffy. Luffy and Zoro are often called monsters and have abilities above other crews. Indeed, when talking about facts in the field, Sanji's strength is very different from Luffy's. Meanwhile, Zoro and Luffy's powers are not too far away. However, Sanji is not that weak.
Sanji has calm and a few other things that Luffy and Zoro don't have. In conclusion, the Straw Hat crew does not have a hierarchy like the Beasts group, or other pirate groups. However, if it has to be sorted according to "position" then, Zoro will become the vice-captain, and Zoro will be the Second Mate or the second vice-captain after Zoro who is also a strategist.
